PACIFIC TEAK TIMBER
Pacific Teak, also known as New Guinea Teak, is one of the world’s best-known hardwood timbers. As the name suggests, it grows in the southwest Pacific islands, predominantly in Papua New Guinea. The timber is renowned for its stability and durability, which make it ideal for exterior applications such as cladding and decking. However, Pacific Teak timber is also commonly used for interiors, with its pale yellow and golden brown appearance being extremely suitable for hardwood flooring and interior cladding.
BENEFITS OF USING PACIFIC TEAK TIMBER
Because of its stability and durability, Pacific Teak timber requires minimal maintenance even when exposed to the elements. For this reason, it is often used for marine applications such as boat building. Pacific Teak will naturally weather to a silver colour without cupping or warping, therefore giving the timber a unique weathered look. Another benefit of using Pacific Teak is its excellent steam bending and working properties, which allow carpenters to get creative with designs. This, combined with the wide range of finishes available, make the timber a popular choice for both interiors and exteriors.

Applications
As mentioned before, Pacific Teak timber has been historically used for marine applications such as boat building. Because it is such a durable hardwood, these days Pacific Teak is commonly used for exterior elements, including cladding and timber decking. The minimal maintenance required by this wood has also made it a popular option for outdoor cabinetry like the one you would find in an outdoor kitchen.
